Madonna hires McCartney's divorce lawyer

London (ANI): Madonna has further intensified reports that her marriage to Guy Ritchie has hit an all time low, by lining up the divorce lawyer who masterminded Sir Paul McCartney's divorce battle with Heather Mills. The 49-year-old superstar allegedly had talks with Fiona Shackleton in April after her seven-year marriage was in crisis. While the legendary singer was hopeful for a truce with Guy defying any need of paperwork, it now seems that her relationship with the filmmaker hit such a low that she opted for a proper consultation. "Madonna always seeks out the best in whatever field she is interested in at any given time. Fiona Shackleton is the best," The Mirror quoted a friend of the singer, as saying.

Brooklyn-based hard-core doorknocker Necro raised the cake for perversity in the late '90s and early 2000s with his music and films. Influenced by drugs, gore, porno, and violence, Necro set out to comprise these themes into his rapping. He efficaciously did so on his debut full-length, I Need Drugs (2000). The album featured drug songs (the title running, which is an interposition of LL Cool J's "I Need Love"), gore songs ("Your Fucking Head Split"), porno songs ("Get on Your Knees"), and violent songs ("The Most Sadistic"). Moreover, Necro directed a tV for "I Need Drugs" that featured people shooting up diacetylmorphine and smoking crack spell he rapped, and he too included scores of off-the-wall photos in the album's pamphlet.

Necro began his have label, Psycho + Logical Records, and created a web site, wWW.necrohiphop.com, to market place his medicine and movies. Following his debut album, Necro released a series of albums compilation random recordings of his from the '90s (for the most part radio-aired freestyle performances and home demos) and followed up I Need Drugs with Bloodstained Days (2001), a similarly exploitatory travail. His films -- 187 Reasons Y (1997), The Devil Made Me Do It (1998) -- are exactly as perverse, if non more, sculptural subsequently old school panel films as well as snuff and smut. Unsurprisingly, Necro aligned himself with versatile pornographers and began marketing their goods on his site as well, extending his brand diagnose as far as he could.

The X-Files: The Complete Series - 7/8/2008

In the early 1990s, the young Fox network was just beginning to hit its stride with an odd mix of television not found on the major three networks. Fox viewers found irreverent comedy courtesy of the dysfunctional families on The Simpsons and Married… with Children; gripping real-life crime action in COPS and America's Most Wanted; and sappy post adolescent soap drama with Beverly Hills 90210 and Party of Five. Just about the only thing missing from this eccentric network line-up was a show about aliens. Oh, but wait… oeven that show would eventually find a home on Fox; in the fall of 1993, The X-Files arrived.

The riveting pilot episode quickly sets the framework for the entire series. FBI Agent Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) works outside of the bureau's mainstream on discarded, unsolved cases regarding paranormal activity called the X-Files. His immediate supervisors think his work is without merit, so they assign a young female agent, Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) to work with Mulder and disprove his wild theories. Mulder believes we are not alone in the universe; Scully believes science holds the key to the unexplained. Their first case together -- teenagers being abducted and killed in Oregon -- raises more questions than answers and leaves Scully with little exculpatory evidence to report back to her superiors.

In addition to introducing the main characters, the pilot also establishes The X-Files mythology : a series-long subplot regarding a government conspiracy to conceal the existence of aliens. Uncovering this deep-rooted mystery is what drives Mulder. He knows the government is hiding significant details regarding alien life on earth and he's convinced that his superiors within the FBI are purposefully holding him back from finding the truth. The mythology episodes appear sporadically during the series including each season's premiere and finale episodes. Each mythology episode builds upon the prior and reveals startling new revelations of the bigger picture of a conspiracy. These episodes are clearly the most exhilarating of the series.

The remaining X-Files episodes deal in the strange world of the extraordinary where Mulder and Scully must try to explain the unexplainable. These episodes have little bearing on the wider mythology, but they introduce us to some odd characters with some unusual abilities. Some of the most memorable include insurance salesman Clyde Bruckman who can predict people's deaths (Season 3, Episode 4); retired freaks and side-show performers with abnormal bodily functions (2.20); Robert Modell, aka "The Pusher," who can change people's thoughts (3.17); and the inbred Peacock family who are less than human as a result (4.2). These episodes also give us further insight into Mulder and Scully and what makes them tick.

In addition to its fantastic conspiracy theories and fascinating characters, each X-Files episode is a visual feast for the eyes. There are no cornball special effects with this science fiction show. While the earliest episodes show a rustiness with the visual effects, overall The X-Files is technically resounding, even from the pilot episode. Fans of film noir will dig the show's dimly lit palette, one that fully compliments its bizarre storylines. The high end production values show in every episode. It's not a surprise that The X-Files took home most technical category Emmy awards during the nine-year-series-run.

The X-Files "jumped the shark" at the end of the seventh season (and after a decent movie outing) when David Duchovny jumped ship, downgrading his involvement to part-time status. New agents John Doggett (Robert Patrick) and Monica Reyes (Annabeth Gish) were brought on to fill the void left by Duchovny, but the show labored. The changes clearly proved that seven years of chemistry between Mulder and Scully could never be replaced. While the final two seasons feature a handful of must-see episodes that bring closure to several key storylines, the bulk of seasons eight and nine can be skipped.

The X-Files is even better on DVD and it's not because each season's box set comes with a plethora of DVD extras including interviews, documentaries, and behind the scenes information. What makes the show so much better on DVD is that we have the ability to pick and choose our own adventure, like watching just the mythology episodes in order. We don't need to wait all summer to find out what happens to Mulder in the boxcar at the end of season two. We can just pop in the next DVD. It brings an entirely new level of enjoyment to a series that is already immensely fulfilling.

Certainly a fictionalized show that ponders the existence of extra-terrestrials couldn't last beyond one season, right? Well, The X-Files lasted almost 10 years and it will continue to shock and amaze new X-Philes for a lifetime to come.

The X-Files Revelations disc offers eight "essential" episodes that offer a shorthand version of the series.

A little higher with the probe, bub!

Nicole Richie to guest star on NBC's `Chuck'

NEW YORK —

As Paris Hilton's sidekick on "The Simple Life," Nicole Richie showed a flair for comedy - and an impish glee at cracking jokes at others' expense.

The 26-year-old celebutante will again display a caustic streak in an upcoming guest spot on NBC's "Chuck," portraying the mean-spirited high school nemesis of undercover CIA agent Sarah Walker (Yvonne Strahovski).

In the episode, which will air this fall, Sarah must confront Richie's character when she is forced to attend her 10-year high school reunion for a mission with fellow agent Chuck Bartowski (Zachary Levi) as her date.

"Nicole auditioned for the part and was very funny," executive producer Josh Schwartz said in a statement Wednesday. "This role is a great opportunity for her to show off her comedic skills and be diabolically evil and kick some butt. It's going to be really fun."

She has previously guest starred on TV's "American Dreams" and "8 Simple Rules ... for Dating My Teenage Daughter."

Richie and her beau, Good Charlotte rocker Joel Madden, welcomed daughter Harlow Winter Kate Madden in January.

Alec Baldwin lends voice to ad for NYC homelessness group

NEW YORK — Alec Baldwin is lending his voice to critics of New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg's homelessness policies.

The "30 Rock" actor narrates a public service announcement released by the Coalition for the Homeless, a charity blasting Bloomberg's follow-through on a 2004 pledge to slash the number of homeless New Yorkers.

Over footage of people on city streets, Baldwin recites statistics such as "over 40,000 New Yorkers will go to sleep homeless tonight." A coalition spokeswoman says the spot will be televised on various networks.

The city Department of Homeless Services says the number of homeless people on Manhattan streets and in shelters is shrinking, which the coalition disputes.

Baldwin's representatives didn't immediately return phone calls Wednesday. The 50-year-old actor is an enthusiastic Democrat who often speaks out on political matters.

Shirley Bassey cancels Nelson Mandela gig

This time last year, Dame Shirley Bassey was preparing for an unlikely gig at Glastonbury - drafting set-lists, evaluating helicopters, trying on diamond stilettos. But this time round, Dame Shirley's unlikely to be anywhere near the Glastonbury mud. The 71-year-old singer has had to cancel her one scheduled performance, at Nelson Mandela's London birthday concert, due to ongoing health concerns.

"On the advice of her surgeon, Dame Shirley Bassey will now not be able to perform as scheduled at the Nelson Mandela 46664 concert," her spokesman announced yesterday.

Dame Shirley underwent emergency stomach surgery last month, after being rushed to hospital with abdominal pains. She is understood to be recovering well in Monaco, where she lives.

The soul star - best known for singing the Bond themes Goldfinger and Diamonds Are Forever - was due to appear alongside Queen, Leona Lewis, Annie Lennox and others at Hyde Park on Friday, in honour of Mandela's 90th birthday. Proceeds from the gig will go to 46664, a global HIV/AIDS campaign named after Mandela's former prison number.

"The dame is hugely disappointed and was looking forward to the show immensely," her spokesman said. "Dame Shirley has been advised not to travel at the present time, so as to aid her continued full recovery following surgery last month."

Dame Shirley is not the only one whose health worries are affecting Friday's lineup. Amy Winehouse, who has herself been mooted to sing a James Bond theme tune, was expected to perform at Hyde Park until she was admitted to hospital last week. Winehouse has been diagnosed with emphysema and it is not known whether she will be well enough to sing.
